Movement and Mess is suitable for ages 9 months up to 24 months. These sessions are grounded in evidence based understanding of play and development in this age group. The Free Play approach combines fun activities than encourage gross & fine motor skill development in young children, combining movement, and messy play.

We run our Movement & Mess sessions in the welcoming and relaxed Community Centre in Mickleover Village. At the centre there is a tea room that is open 10am - 2pm - orders can be placed for food and drink and staff will bring this through to you in the main hall where the Sense of Calm session is held. The base price rises to £7.50 for Special Themed Sessions to cover the cost of extra provisions.

What to expect at your session:

Each 45-minute session includes:

★ Fun themed play activities e.g. The Hungry Caterpillar.

★ Play Activities that encourage movement and gross motor skill development.

★ The community centre is a breast-feeding and weaning friendly environment  where you have time sit and chat with other parents/caregivers.

★ There's the opportunity to grab a drink or a bite to eat during the session.

★ These sessions are a great setting to meet other parents and caregivers.

Other Information:

Please let us know in advance if you have needs in terms of accessibility, so we can ensure access and make alterations accordingly. It is our aim to provide our service to everyone, including those with disabilities.

It's important that no child is left unattended in the venue or café. We ask that all children are supervised when in the session room to avoid injury or damage to equipment. You are welcome to move into the Community Centre Tea Room after your session should you wish (open until 2pm).
